I’m fascinated with home design.  It’s the most complicated of all the art forms, not only because there are so many layered considerations, but because, when done well, great home design,  be it ever so humble, supports and enhances the well being of the home owner.

I have studied…hard.  I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in interior design from F.I.T., New York, and also became an Allied amember of ASID.  I still study interior design and have to admit to being kind of an “Interior Designer Groupie”…you can’t ever learn too much from the masters of the art form.   Since 1996, I’ve been sharing my wealth of information with “Home Design Civilians” to help them help themselves to a more beautiful place to live.

Here’s what I know:

Even if you are only masquerading as an “Ordinary Joe”, but really, you’re extraordinary and ultra sophisticated…

The “how to” and “where to begin” of home design is baffling for most people…

In that sense, it’s a level playing field.  My assumption, based on experience, is that you, “The Home Design Civilian”, have better taste and more intuitive know-how than you think you do.

The topics covered  here, are critical aspects of building a satisfying home environment and are presented as guidelines, tips, opinions and fresh perspectives to think about home design in a new way that suits you and the way you want live.

Many of the posts are from articles I have written and previously published with Hamptons.com and various other publications.  They form a foundation for expansion and update to create a design reference library for your convenience and pleasure.
